5,000 Voices for Truth: The Movement Grows
The Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability Act (TJAAA) petition has officially surpassed 5,000 signatures, marking another major milestone in the growing national campaign to end deceptive hiring practices known as “ghost jobs.”
In just over a month, the TJAAA Working Group has transformed from a grassroots petition into a bipartisan policy conversation on Capitol Hill. The group has now met with staff from more than twenty congressional offices, including Senator James Lankford (OK) and Representatives Nikema Williams (GA), Eugene Vindman (VA), Brad Sherman (CA), Terri Sewell (AL), Pablo José Hernández (PR), Beth Van Duyne (TX), Troy Downing (MT), Monica De La Cruz (TX), Henry Cuellar (TX), and Tim Burchett (TN) — building on earlier discussions with Senator Ruben Gallego (AZ), Senator Jack Reed (RI), and Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI), Troy Carter (LA), Gwen Moore (WI), Maxwell Frost (FL), Roger Williams (TX), Alma Adams (NC), and Keith Self (TX).
“This milestone belongs to everyone who refused to stay silent about deceptive hiring practices,” said Eric K. Thompson, founder of the TJAAA Working Group. “Every signature is a statement that job seekers deserve honesty, and that employers should be held to the same standards of transparency they expect from applicants.”
The TJAAA seeks to require truthfulness and accountability in job advertising, ensuring that listed positions represent real, active opportunities rather than outdated, speculative, or misleading postings. With AI-driven recruiting now amplifying the reach of false listings, advocates say this issue has never been more urgent.
Public awareness is growing fast. In recent weeks, the TJAAA has been featured in outlets including CNBC, Success Magazine, City Journal, WebPro News, Benzinga, and OpenTools.ai, and the group’s recent national press release continues to circulate widely across policy and business networks.
“We’re not slowing down — we’re growing stronger,” Thompson said. “Five thousand voices have already spoken, and our next goal is 7,500. The more people stand up for truth in hiring, the harder it becomes for lawmakers to ignore.”
Supporters are encouraged to sign and share the petition at https://www.change.org/StopGhostJobs and to contact their local representatives — especially if they are constituents of any of the legislators whose offices have engaged with the TJAAA Working Group.
